I have a cohort of 118 students but divided in 7 groups. Each continuous assessment must have a different availabilty and due date/time. How can I set this up in Canvas?

HI @leopardi Welcome to the Canvas Community.
I was wondering if you assign the assignment to each group individually after you duplicate it How do I duplicate an assignment?.This will give you the facility to set different dates.
How do I assign an assignment to a course group? will help too.

Hi Bobby,
I have thought about this too. But I am just not sure how it will affect the grade centre. Will there be a problem as every assessment creates a new row in the grade centre.
Kind regards,
Leonetta

Yes @leopardi this will create a new row.
Hi Bobby,
this in itself may not be an issue, but already made the following experience: I had an alternative test done online for students who were not able to do the test in class. I have set up the test in Canvas and have assigned it only to the students who needed to re-sit the test. But the other students have a entry in their grades that says they have missed the online test even though I hadn't assigned to it. If that happens every time I have multiple tests because I have multiple groups it will cause a great confusion, I believe.
Can you help?
Kind regards,
Leonetta

I see. Yes, that could get quite messy.
Is the challenge here that the assignment has already been set and can't be changed?
Did you assign the last example to just a group or to the whole class?
Apologies for the questions, I just want to get it clear in my head.
Hi Bobby,
my major issue is that I have a cohort of 116 students in 7 groups. They need to do the assignment at different times. I don't want the assignment to be available for all when the first group sits the test. The danger that the test questions are seen by other students is too high.
My example was my first attempt to get part of my student's cohort who had missed the actual in-class test (done previous to Covid 19's ban of face-to-face teaching). I had assigned it only to those 24 students but still other students had the message come up on the LMS that they had missed the test.
I appreciate your patience and help!
Kind regards,
Leonetta

Hi again @leopardi , I've reached out to the Canvas Coaches for some ideas for you. Here are some ideas from them:
Best of luck!
Hi Bobby,
that sounds good. That is exactly what I need, different times for different student groups doing their assignment individually. I believe that solves my problem.
Thank you for finding out.
Kind regards,
