[ARCHIVED] Automatic grades from a discussion forum to the grade book

An instructor wants to assign points to students who simply submit a post to a discussion forum (i.e. she does not want to manually grade the posts). Students will get full credit upon submission. How can we set up the discussion to shoot 10 points to the corresponding grade book column upon student submission?

 @jjohnson6 ​, the short answer is that this isn't possible on the front end of Canvas, and I'm not sure what would need to be done programmatically on the back-end to get this to happen.

There was a discussion about something similar last month that might provide some possible workarounds - Marking Discussions as Completed Automatically?
