[ARCHIVED] Browse all courses under a sub-account

Can you not, when viewing a sub-account, just list ALL courses under a sub-account, even if it's not neat like 30 results per page? Coming from a moodle background, it is disappointing that we can't do this out of the box.

Especially when the Search for a course name box is so unreliable (sometimes it find results as you are time, sometimes it doesn't - the sis import csv we've seen says that a course should be there, but it's hard to know how to verify it / find the course).

Canvas like to have things fit on pages, so not really. You might be able to run an API call have it display in a Google Sheet.

If I'm understanding your question right, then I think the new Admin Course Search feature that released as an option in production on March 10th would meet your needs. If you enable it for your instance/account, then you would navigate to the sub-account and click on Courses. At that point, with no search criteria, it should return all courses for that sub-account, and should display results paginated in sets of 15. It also allows sorting by column headings.

Thanks for the pointer, that is a good start. However I am finding it frequently doesn't search the entire tree of the main sub-account. e.g. a course 2 levels down (where Hull College Group is the root of the site / parent sub-account, it is not always finding a course which is located in the FE1718 import > Name of school here sub-account). Which seems like a bug. It also doesn't give you a tree view of the sub-accounts as categories (comparison of how moodle does it shown below - HCUK Training is at the first level of categories, which is their equivalent of sub-accounts):

For students (and staff when the new MIS is online and behaving itself, and someone has written the API code to deal with this), them being on the right courses should be automated (most of the time - it's never perfect). But for admins trying to browse around looking for something, it makes our lives more difficult. Improving the new search tool would help.

Whilst I have marked Todd's answer as helpful, I won't mark it as correct - it doesn't do what we wanted to do (walk around the tree of sub-accounts and courses within them easily, ideally in an ajax view). So marking it as correct would be false.

I agree with Dave, that the interface needs to be greatly improved for navigating sub-accounts and courses therein.
