[ARCHIVED] Buttons, Badges, and Links - Oh my!

Two Questions:

1) I'm new to Canvas as an instructor, and would like to give students two ways to earn a badge.  One would be for ungraded content like signing up for Remind 101 or reading my Communication page - in this case they would simply click on a button marked "Finis" or something similar and receive a badge with an appropriate name.

The second way would be when they turn in certain assignments or pass assessments for mastery.

I can't seem to find anything to explain how to do this.

2) How do I assign a hyperlink to a button?  For instance using buttons to navigate to outside resources or start a video, etc.

I can create my own graphics for badges and buttons, but can't seem to figure out how to apply either one.

One thing you might try is the Badgr LTI external tool (app).  Here are a couple links for your review:

There are other third-party LTI tools that can be integrated with Canvas ... and some may come with a cost.  If you search for the word "badge" in the EduAppCenter website, you'll find a handful of other LTIs that you can look through.
