I am in the process of creating programs in Catalog consisting of Canvas courses that have been created. I have run into a snag of sorts in that within the various programs I am creating, courses overlap. For example, Program A includes Course A as part of the program requirements. Program B also includes Course A. Will a user who first completes Course A as part of Program A still get credit for that course completion if he/she signs up for Program B? Or, does the user have to repeat Course A as part of the Program B requirements?
Each program has its own "identity" if a student registers for a program they will only be able to complete the courses in that program and then re-register for Program B.
Yes, I understand that. However, what I am talking about is if a Canvas course (Course A) is utilized as part of the requirements for Program A and Program B, if a student completes Course A it as part of Program A, does he/she have to repeat Course A again as part of Program B?
Yes, they would need to complete it again.
Is there a way to avoid this? There has to be a way to create separate programs with overlapping courses and still give credit from program to program. Universities do it all the time.
I would ask @jfenton and Deactivated user about this.
Thank you, Jessica! I messaged both of them.
Great!
