You asked essentially the same question in this thread: Hosting Canvas on a Linux server?
It has responses already, the latest of which told you that you do not need to post a new question because Erin shared your question with the group. This question didn't go into the Developer's Group, either, so they are less likely to see it than your other one, which was shared.
The answer to part of your question is in the document you linked to in this question:
If you have a different system, consider setting up a server or virtual machine running the latest Ubuntu LTS.
Depending on your ultimate end-game here, Bitnami has a Canvas LMS Stack that you might want to check out. It's good for getting Canvas set up quickly.
Thank you!
Canvas LMS Cloud Hosting, Canvas LMS Installer, Docker Container and VM
I'm not new to Canvas as an end user. The installation seems a bit tricky!

I'm not going to argue about the Canvas installation instructions. I was never able to get them figured out myself, so I was grateful to find Bitnami. I'm not running Bitnami's stack for production, though. It was more for testing things and getting access to the underlying database. I've never done an upgrade from Bitnami to know what's involved without losing data. I've only installed Bitnami once.
If you meant that Bitnami's instructions are tricky, I'm not sure to help there. I just downloaded the virtual machine and used it with VirtualBox (since that's the manager I already had loaded).
I just got Bitnami stack installed on a Debian 10 VM (VirtualBox) .
16GB ram - 2 core.
I'd am going to up the ram to 24GB (This is the actual RAM on our bare metal server)
Very clean install.
Now to test . I'm a mysql(mariadb) users/admin so I need to learn PostgreSQL
I am going to try: phpPgAdmin - start on the test server.
Thanks for the post!
