[ARCHIVED] Changing Ownership of Studio videos

As staff are leaving our district for new careers, they leave behind valuable resources such as Canvas Studio videos.  How or what is the best method to transfer ownership of those items to remaining staff.

Greetings! This is an EXCELLENT question! We use Studio as well and the only thing we've tried is having the person leaving (or an admin) go through and "share" their videos (with "can edit" permissions). For the who they share it with, I'd recommend creating a generic school, department, grade, etc "user." 

Otherwise, my other recommendation is to talk with your CSM to see if they have any best practices or ideas of what to do. If you do talk with your CSM, please come back and let us know what you find out!

Great question indeed! I'd like to extend this query to include change of ownership for Canvas Studio 'Collections'. Whilst the 'owner' of a collection can easily share it with others as viewers or editors, how could ownership be obtained or passed onto someone else in cases where the owner leaves?

The user/owner of the collection can share the collection with the school admin; with editing permission the admin effectively becomes an "owner." If the owner of the collection has already left the school and/or can no longer access their Canvas account to perform the 'share' action, the admin should be able to 'Act As' the user to accomplish the share.   FAQ: What happens to a user's Canvas Studio media ...  provides more detail.
