[ARCHIVED] Changing default browser used by Teacher app for external tools

Is there a way to change the default browser used by the Teacher app to open external tools? Yellowdig Engage does not work well with Safari, and I'm trying to figure out how to have it open in Firefox or Chrome instead, both for me and for my students.

Hi Lisa -

Can you change the default browser? I haven't tried this myself as all of my students only have Chrome (K12 1:1 iPads with restrictions in the App Store.)

Thanks, Kristin. Alas, those instructions are for a jailbroken device and require installation of software that seems slightly sketchy. It's not a viable option for me, and I can't recommend it to my students.

It would be awesome if the Teacher mobile app would allow users to open links in a browser of choice, like the Microsoft Outlook client does.  Since our school district is heavily invested in Chrome, our teachers use that.  On my iPad, I’d love to have Canvas open all URLs in Chrome instead of Safari.  I’d don’t want to change the default browser to Chrome, as I only use Chrome for work.

@lmg211 - As of iOS 14, changing the browser is now supported without any jailbreaks.

I do agree that this should be a feature idea since the only solution requires the user to change their default browser across the entire phone.
