Are there click-to-reveal or hot-spot with pop-up box templates available as page types or objects in Canvas

Nothing comes to mind that's a built-in feature within Canvas, but I wrote a blog post a few years back that might work for your needs.  I think you could also do this with text.  Lightbox Effect

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate that the code is in there so I can try it out.

I'm surprised that Canvas doesn't have more features like hot spots and click to reveal, since the features appear in a lot of software and have been around for a while.
