Hi @katrina_navan . I are you referring to the standard version of the default conferencing tool BigBlueButton? If so believe that recordings are stored on the BBB web servers temporarily unless your institution has paid for a premium account with BigBlueButton. There are a number of other web conferencing tools that integrate with Canvas and which can be enabled under the Conference tab. Here is some useful information about the default conferencing tool, How do I record a conference? As this states,
"Recording Restrictions
- When creating your conference, you must select the record option to record the conference.
- Canvas' standard recording feature will store your recordings in Conferences for 14 days and then remove them automatically.
- Recorded conferences cannot be downloaded.
- Recorded conferences can only be viewed inside the course where the conference was recorded; URLs cannot be shared outside Canvas.
For alternative storage and download options, contact BigBlueButton to set up a hosting account."
This document also has information on where students view recordings when a session has concluded, https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13109-4152627522
