Are you able to sign-in to Canvas using that email/account? If so, there is a way to change your contact settings. (How do I add contact methods to receive Canvas notifications?)
I'm sorry that the school isn't following you as you describe your situation. I think that the school/district would be able to help you! If you contact the school, can you ask to speak with the technology department specifically? If you're part of a larger district, contacting the district office and asking to talk to the technology team or Canvas Administrator directly may get you more clarity.
