Hello,

I am a Canvas new user.

I would like to find out how you can create course templates in Canvas in the same way that you could in Blackboard Learn or Moodle. Likewise, in Moodle there were plug-ins available with different types of course formats. I understand that course format and template are equivalent in this context.

Can anybody please advise me on how to create a course template/format in Canvas as well as if there are additional plugins or add-ons that we can use?

This is the type of course template that I am creating. and then creating links to other pages, discussion boards, etc,within each page showed in the frontpage of the course.
How can I create a navigation panel/bar with all the accordion menus closed? Many thanks

There are so many options available!

How do I use the Course Home Page as an instructor?‌  is a great lesson. However, you can decide whether you have a Page, Assignments, Syllabus, or Modules as your "landing page" for a course.

Canvas Commons‌ is a wonderful place to look for course templates. Many instructors and designers have shared their work with other Canvas users. https://community.canvaslms.com/groups/designers/blog/2018/05/04/k12-teacher-appreciation-2018-homep... is also a fun resource. if you're looking for something more fully-built, the Canvas Education Services team has a very large template suite with individual designs available for purchase. If you'd like more information on that, please let me know.

Once you build a course, you can share it with other instructors/departments as a template or look at creating a blueprint course.
