As a student, I'm on CANVAS all the time, and with their mostly white theme, that can give some annoying eye strain and headaches. When can we get a dark mode?

This is a regularly requested feature. Please see Dark Theme/Dark Mode for Canvas and add a comment to the thread. How do idea conversations work in the Instructure Community? 

In the meantime, it may be helpful to look at how browser settings, browser extensions, and device settings will change your experience with Canvas and all web-content.

yes they make extensions but it probably should have been built in from the start and you also forgot that we are at school  using their provided laptops and with that extensions are blocked.

Even turning my brightness all the way down doesn't help how canvas is super bright. I have final exams coming up and I can't do my work when it is like looking at the sun. There are some things I am not able to do, It doesn't give me any options to change to Dark mode or Dark Theme.

This was marked as solved - but it is not, having a mobile fix or recommending outside extensions does not solve the blinding whiteness of Canvas on desktop/laptop screens.
As an online student, as well as a software engineer, there is a need to tone down glaring, blinding, and whiteness (even with brightness turned down, blue light filtering, etc.). Most sites have the option to default to system setting mode or toggle light/dark options, therefore most sites and applications on my screens load without effort to dark. I have tried extensions that don't solve the problem (many features are not accurately shaded or opposed enough in color and can't be seen). Some extensions flat cause problems with the browser running efficiently - also not a solution. 

Please make this a priority, it isn't just a preference, but a medical necessity for some of us.

I am also a student and I have chronic eyestrain and issues with dry/fatigue eyes! I think it's a bit silly to not have dark mode and it's not that hard to program so I don't know why they haven't. The dark mode for the mobile app only came out recently which is.. concerning lol. 

Also suggesting to look at third party applications is reckless imo, consequences like that can lead to computer viruses.
