This is what i think the situation is re files and storage
a. Sizes + general quotas
- the account quota limit is e.g. 3500Mb per FTE (e.g. 700x 500= 3500Mb)
 - individual file limit = 2GB
 - files created using Canvas media tool (audio/video) = 500 MB
 - there is no maximum course, personal  or group quota limit (but course can be set by admin)
 - cannot set individual person quotas

b. Media file storage
NOTE:
- If  select the film strip icon on wiki page to upload supported media , the file will be uploaded to and only stored on Kaltura ( i.e. not personal or course file)
 - If select to insert content via the content selector found on the right hand of the page, the files will always be uploaded to the personal / course's files location AND be stored in Kaltura media servers

Any audio, video, MP3/4  media (500Mb max) created using canvas tools (via canvas or via app)
- converted by Canvas to support Canvas-supported browsers
 - stored in third-party non searchable server - Kaltura
 - is ONLY stored in non-searchable third-party server (Kaltura)   i.e. NOT stored in course or personal files
 - can only be found where posted/ recorded  i.e. discussion post and speedgrader/ grades
 - can be updated with a new file  but if is deleted from source location in Canvas  - NOT deleted from server
 - can only be removed from server by raising a ticket

re Discussion media created with Canvas App
- non-assessed recordings stored under personal files and in Kaltura server
 - assessed recordings only stored and hosted In Kaltura
 - can only be located where posted or via grades
 - can only be removed from server by raising a ticket

c. Personal file quota
- includes non-media assessment submissions e.g. profile pics, assignment uploads, word docs, zips etc
 - includes supported non-assessment media files uploaded to canvas as files
 - excludes canvas-created media and supported media embedded into wiki page directly
 - to check personal file usage
 - usage and file quota information appears bottom left of screen

d.      Course file quota
- includes any non-media content and supported media files uploaded to canvas as files
 - excludes canvas-created media and supported media embedded into wiki page directly
 - to check course usage and file quota  (see also Where are my course files?) go to course in canvas > click Files in left hand menu
 - usage and file quota information appears bottom left of screen
 - to change course quota > click settings > scroll to file storage and change entry

e. Account level storage
- Account admin users can only see account and course quotas etc via account settings
 - So if account admin creating question banks at account or sub-account level - CANNOT add files, images etc unless
- create an account level course to house all the files need to use (so can then link to those files)
 - and then / OR link using html
