[ARCHIVED] Ever monetize course registration and access?

Have any of you ever used Canvas for registrants that are not students? For example, Moodle has the ability for people to pay for course access and the "registration system" creates a username and registers the person for the class. Does Canvas have anything like this?

My institution is going to offer online courses for continuing and professional education and we're trying to find a way to streamline the process.
