[ARCHIVED] External App [View App Configuration] Button Missing

I set up a local instance of Canvas using Bitnami. Everything seems to work, except for the External App section of a course. It seems to be missing some very important buttons. Any ideas on what might have happened?

I couldn't get Bitnami's Canvas to work, so I switched over to Websoft9's Canvas Instance. However, even using Websoft9, I had some issues with Canvas and LTI 1.3 stuff (if that is what you are using it for). I discovered some fixes for it online (perhaps these fixes can be applied to Bitnami's Canvas Instance and get that working as well).

Fixes to Canvas' config folder:

• Update redis.yml to include correct cache server for your environment [follow the template in file and add production:] (should be redis://localhost)

• Update cache_store.yml to include the value redis_cache_store 

cache_store.yml

• Update security.yml to include the correct domain name as issuer (lti_iss:)

security.yml

• Update domain.yml with the correct domain

domain.yml

• Update dynamic_settings.yml to include lti_keys: under your current environment [likely default is production:]

dynamic_settings.yml

I know this works for Websoft9's Canvas Instance, but I never tested these fixes on Bitnami. You can try them yourself. Also, if you cannot find the config files, there should be an equivalent example file within the config directory (redis.yml.example). Simply rename it back to what it should be called.

What were your symptoms on WebSoft9 that caused you to make these changes?  

I'm getting:

 I've made your changes and still have the issue.  Just want to know if I missed something on your fix or if I'm going down the wrong path entirely.

I got that exact same error when using websoft9. Have you double-checked and ensured that all the files are correctly named (without .example extension) and that all settings are under a production: header. For the redis.yml, you can also use localhost, instead of 127.0.0.1 (perhaps restricted to specific host name usage). Another thing to check is if Redis is even running alongside your Canvas instance.
