Instead of having to indicate it's a 'new assignment' for every column I am importing into a course gradebook, is there a way to indicate this in the .csv file itself?

mikeg, greetings! I don't believe there is a way to indicate this in the csv file itself - or at least I've never figured out a way to do this. To be completely sure, you could check with Canvas Support though. To do this, click on the Help link in Canvas and Report a Problem.
