Pros:
Cons:
Ultimately, for us, the pros outweighed the cons. We started by enabling it in one subaccount and tested for a while to make sure everything worked. Then we enabled for the whole district.
When you enabled on the one sub account, it didn't conflict with Google Apps (Cloud)? I installed GA LTI in Beta, and it gave me an error message when using. When I removed Google Apps, it worked. However, perhaps that's a Beta thing.
I will say that when we were part of Course Kit, we were able to install both.
The biggest concern I have about GALTI is the Speedgrader integrations (having to grade it in google rather than in the speedgrader). It does eventually sync up but it's glitchy. The most PROBLEMATIC ISSUE that needs to be resolved is they way classes that are crosslisted (like in high schools for a teacher who has multiple sections of the same class), when I open the google assignments for one class, all the students who are in all my sections are in the same assignment. So if I need to go quickly through one class and give feedback on things during the class, I am sifting through ALL my students.
NOT GOOD. GOOGLE/CANVAS MUST ADDRESS THIS.
I agree with the comment on Speed Grader. This new integration is no where near as smooth or easy to use. You have to go back into speed grader to leave a comment for the student if you want them to see it without opening the whole assignment again. Also...RUBRICS. Aligning outcomes in rubrics is an amazing feature and now you can't use Canvas rubrics with Google Assignments!?!?! most my teachers are going to go back to old school ways of providing a link to the document, having them make a copy, and then file upload. Honestly...I feel like Canvas has gone backwards with this integration. There is a reason we use Canvas and not Google Classroom. Please do not keep making these changes!!!
