[ARCHIVED] Google Cloud Assignment going away?

My district told us we had to use canvas instead of google classroom for middle school (at first I was not thrilled having used canvas in college and still feel it is not best suited for kids). 

We were told to use google cloud assignments at the beginning (two weeks ago), now we are told to stop using that and use Google Assignments LTI because cloud assignments is being discontinued. I was part of the beta group through Google for assignments and it is still not intuitive (besides the fact it doesn't work in speed grader). 

Is it true that cloud assignment is going away? If so, when?

@elizabethagrant  I read your suggested article but I'm confused because Google Assignments doesn't seem to be what we have.  I will add screenshots below of what we have.  Is the top one in the list the "old" one that is leaving and the bottom one the "new one" the article discusses?

It looks like the blog post states:

The existing Google Apps LTI is deprecated and will be removed from Canvas on September 1, 2021. All customers should set up Google Assignments in Canvas as a replacement. 

So there is about a year left on using Google Docs Cloud Assignment.   I'm trying to learn more about this for my district as well. From what I gather, the Cloud Assignment version was created by Canvas to integrate items from Google Drive into Canvas to deliver to students.  The new Google Assignments integration is built by Google, and supported by them. It looks like it functions similarly to Google Classroom. They're separate external tools that both integrate Canvas.

September 1, 2021 has come and gone, but Google Doc Cloud Assignments is still here. Is it here to stay? It is so much better than Google Assignments. I hope Google Doc Cloud Assignments is here to stay!

Can someone from Canvas please reply to this message. I switched to Google Assignments, because I thought I had no choice. I would like to switch back to Google Doc Cloud Assignments.

Google Assignments (LTI 1.3) now has an option to use Canvas Speedgrader. If that option is selected, it seems to be exactly the same as Google Cloud assignments. That being said, the Google Cloud assignment option has not been discontinued yet. Is there an end of life date, Canvas? (I see the previous post is from one year ago and no one responded.)

The Google Cloud Assignments is not working on my account anymore or there is some issue with connection as of now.
