Hi, stephfinlay Welcome to the Canvas Community! When a Google Slide presentation is uploaded to Canvas, it is effectively transformed into a read-only resource and loses interactive functionality. I wonder if the solutions provided in Publish and Embed a Google Slide would work for you?
Alternatively, check out the possibility of adding a link to the page via the Google Drive LTI: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-26548

stefaniesanders is correct. Just embed the Google Slides rather than upload them.
I'm having this same issue. I created Google slide with audio and selected "auto play". I published the slide to web and copied the embed code.
*I went to Canvas and opened a new Page. I posted in the HTML Editor and saved it. I assigned it as my homepage and published it. When I get to the page the audio doesn't play automatically.
I tried embedding the embed code in the " insert/edit media" and clicking embed but got the same result. The audio is still not playing automatically. Please assist.
