[ARCHIVED] Gradebook History

Hi all,

So we are having issues in that when Teacher A views her course gradebook history, she not only sees grades for assignments from her course, but also assignments and grades for students who are in her course and other courses. Teachers are not in each other's courses.

There are no Teacher level Account permissions, just Teacher level Course permissions. This is very troublesome as per FERPA and, well, teachers really don't need to see student grades in other courses.

In searching the guides, they all point to the fact that Gradebook History should only show grades for that specific course, like Biology 501. But the teacher of the Bio 501 course sees student grades for history, math, etc. courses. (Well, the students who are enrolled in Bio and the other courses. Not all other courses or all other students.)

Ideas?

Update: Frist,, this is happening to all faculty/courses. Second, since posting on the forum, I contacted my Instructure Team Gurus and they have reported there are other schools having this same issue. The problem was sent up to engineering. Just wanted to let anyone who's following this that it's a known (but rather obscure) problem.

Suggestion for school Canvas Admins: check on a few of your faculty courses and the Grade History. See if it's happening in your production site. (Funny, too, is that it does not happen in our "test" site. Strange...)
