The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
Please Please tell me this is now fixed. I want the groups to have their own homepage. You can make a page the front page in groups - but you can't assign it to the homepage of groups. The group homepage is just a blank stream page. This has been a request for at least 5 years. Please tell me this has been created and I am just not seeing it.

Hello there, @frontier ...
Unfortunately, I believe you are correct. I just tested this out in my own sandbox course. I went into a Group within my sandbox course. I was able to create a page and assign it as the "Front Page", but I cannot do anything further...to make it show up as the "Home" page. I was trying to find an existing Feature Idea here in the Community that relates to this, but for some reason I wasn't able to find anything. You might want to consider submitting this as a Feature Idea? If you do, from any page here in the Community, click on the PRODUCT menu at the top of the screen, and then click on IDEA CONVERSATIONS. Then, click on the "Suggest an idea" button. Here are a few other related documents that might be of some help to you:
Sorry that I don't have better news for you, but I hope this has helped to answer your question. Take care...be well.

Please!! @frontier Feature this as an idea so we can vote for it! It makes no sense to me that we can set a page as "Front Page" and then cannot set it as Homepage for the group.
Also if we could prevent students from editing that page, that would be even better. Right now any group member can edit any page.
For example I need to display to my students relevant information about their groups and find no user-friendly way to do that.
I believe I posted it under ideas - I still don't see it reflected there though.
And then I found this:
Hi, Vinayak,
Groups aren't able to have a home page other than Recent Activity. Did you ask your students to build their home page using Pages? If so, you can find the 'home page' in the Pages link of the Group Navigation Menu, which is shown in the last step of this lesson: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-26440-how-do-i-view-content-and-student-activity-within-a-g...
Hope that helps!
Erin
There are things we need to have easily accessible to student groups to facilitate the collaborative process - like the member's role assignments... But there doesn't seem to be a way to put anything on the "landing" page for the individual group. I tried making an announcement since there is an "add announcement" button on that page, but it takes 2 more clicks to actually see the content of the announcement. I suppose I could post blank announcements with one role and student name in each title.... But that seems inefficient. The purpose of a home page, whether for the entire course or for a work group, is to quickly and easily convey the most important information. Is there any way to do this at the group level?
