The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
I assigned a Discussion Board as a group assignment. Do all students who are part of a group have to submit the assignment? I was thinking that Canvas would automatically "duplicate" the assignment submitted by one group member to all group members and the grade would be applied to all at once.

Hi Anca,
What you describe is true of Group Assignments where one student submits and it is submitted for the entire group. But for Discussions is a bit different. Instead what happens is that a separate discussion is created for each group to participate in. As the instructor when you click into the Discussion you'll see links to the individual discussions for each group. Students will not see these and are just taken into the Group Discussion that they are a member of.
