Hello @Aligeti ...
The "Modules" index page allows you to organize the layout of your course. You can add as many modules to your "Modules" index page as you want, and then you can fill those modules with different types of content such as Pages, Discussions, Quizzes, Assignments, links to Files, etc. You can place all these types of content in each module in the order that you want students to complete them...and you can even set prerequisites and requirements on the modules if you really want. Here's a good video tutorial on Modules for you to look at: Modules Overview (Instructors).
Based on your question, I am assuming that you are referring to Assignment Groups. On your "Assignments" index page, you can create assignment groups. Many times, instructors will create assignment groups to not only group them by a specific category (such as "Quizzes", "Written Essays", "Graded Discussion", etc.), but they will also use those assignment groups to weight the total grade. For example, all quizzes might be worth 20% of the overall course grade and the remaining written essay assignments might be worth 80% of the total grade (for a total of 100%). You can watch a short video tutorial on assignments on this page: Assignments Overview (Instructors)...which also details assignment groups.
I hope this information will be of help to you. Sing out if you have any other questions about this information. Take care, stay safe, and be well.
