It is not an assignment so it does not get a column. I don;t see any instructions for that.

Hello MiriamJacobs,

I believe there is not a way to create a Grade Column without creating an Assignment. For such Tests where I do not need any submission but want to manually Grade students (for example, Grade Component like Attendance), I create an Assignment with Submission Type as No Submission. Submission Type can also be On Paper for tests that are conducted in-person and require no online submission.

This way a Grade Column is created in the Gradebook and I can grade students using the Grades tool and enter scores in each grade cell or via the SpeedGrader.
