Hi Richard,
In your course go to Settings and then click the Navigation tab. This is where you can change the order of items in the course navigation and disable or enable specific items. Make you changes and then Save the page. The interface is drag and drop so I would probably just drag the File item to the bottom of the page into the Disabled section and then Save.
