When using the highlighter feature in speedgrader, the highlighting blocks text and makes whatever is covered illegible. This is the case in Safari on my Mac, iPad, and iPhone. If I use Chrome on my Mac, the issue isn't there. But it does remain in Chrome on my iPad and iPhone. I see that others have posted about this issue as well-- does anyone see this being rectified in the near future?

Hello, @jeffrey Welcome to the Canvas Community! The quickest way to be informed of progress on this is to submit a support ticket (How do I get help with Canvas as an instructor?). The support agent will provide you with comments as new information becomes available. And if you've already initiated a case, monitor your email thread on that case for progress updates.

I also am having this problem. Firefox is the only browser that works to highlight text in a transparent way, but when I view the result in Safari, the text is blocked. When I use Chrome to make the highlight, no highlighting (transparent or opaque) results.
