Is there a way to do a hotspot question in a Quiz? I thought I saw it demo'd and that it was called something else - not "hotspot" but I do not remember/cannot find it with a search. Any ideas? Is this possible?
Thanks!

Hotspot questions are not currently offered in Canvas Quizzes, but have been frequently requested. According to Canvas through stefaniesanders, it is now on the Product Radar, https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/4525-hot-spot-question-type . Maybe it will be added to the Priority: Quizzes.Next upgrade, or the the upgrade version after that.
Here's an immediate workaround until it becomes available. As a social studies teacher in human_geography and history classes, I label maps with alphabetic characters, and create matching questions, creating a hybrid albeit old school labeling question that works great in digital assessments. I can easily envision how an anatomy image could be labeled and used to create a Canvas assessment question too.

Thanks for the workaround idea. I sure hope It does get included in the new version of Quizzes!
Hi Maria,
There is a way to create a hotspot question in Canvas, but it requires a third party tool called H5P (and it's free...YAY!).
Here is a sample hotspot question I created using H5P.

First, I created my hotspot project in H5P. Then, I grabbed the embed code from the project. I went to Quizzes in Canvas, created a new matching question and pasted the embed code into Canvas. From there, it was just adding the possible matching answers.
Not sure if this is what you are looking for but I hope this information helps.

Hotspot question types were highlighted by Deactivated user at last year's InstructureCon 2016 conference when he was showing off the new engine that is currently being developed. Check out the 17 minute 12 second mark in this video. It will be interesting to hear if there will be any new updates at this year's conference.
