[ARCHIVED] How can I sort by student first name in gradebook?

How can I sort by student first name in gradebook?  Is this really not an option?  I find it absolutely ridiculous if this is not possible to do.  This would throw off my grading process for my students significantly, and might force me to stop using Canvas gradebook entirely.

Background: my university recently switched from D2L.

Welcome to the Canvas Community!!!

You can make the grade book sort by Sortable name, but this is something that has to be enabled by tour Canvas admin.  This is on in Settings > Apps  Gradebook - List Students by Sortable Name

How are you getting to the gradebook from Settings > Apps ?

This doesn't solve the problem. Even with the sortable names turned on, I can't sort my students by their first names rather than their last names.
