[ARCHIVED] How can students make corrections?

We want students to be able to view a quiz, see which questions they missed and "correct" it while providing a reasoning for their learning for half credit per question.  Any suggestions of how to do that other than to have them take it a second time and average the scores?

The problem with taking it a second time is they don't have to justify their answers anywhere...it could just be a guess...

Looking for ideas.

I use it for students Labs. I want them to be able to correct entries with out having to repopulate all of their answers.

I too like to have students complete quiz corrections after completing a quiz.

Here is what I am planning to try this semester. After the due date for my quiz has passed, I am going to replace the original quiz question, with instructions for completing quiz corrections. (I will have both the original question and the new quiz correction question in a testbank so this will involve switching out the questions.)

Next, I will change the quiz settings so that students will be "allowed multiple attempts". I will also allow the students to see their work and answers for the first submission. Finally, I will instruct my students to take the quiz again.

When the students "take the quiz" on their second attempt, they will have the opportunity to upload their corrections.

There are two benefits of doing quiz corrections this way: (1) I can see both the original student's submission and the quiz corrections on the same screen; and, (2) I can easily submit a new quiz grade.
