An embedded video in an assignment is no longer live. How do I delete it?

Good morning,  @lipkin  Thank You for posting your question.  Deleting an embedded video should be pretty easy.  When you are editing the page that your video is on, place your cursor to the immediate right of the embedded video.  Then, press the "Backspace" key on your keyboard, and the video should go away.  You may also be able to select the entire YouTube video as a whole and then "Backspace" it to remove it as well.

When I right click in edit mode I get a choice of a few things to do, but not delete. If I click Backspace nothing happens.

I'm not sure I understand what you are attempting to do.  You shouldn't need to right-click anywhere.  When you are editing your assignment page where the embedded video is located, left-click immediately to the right of your embedded video.  Then, tap "Backspace" on your keyboard.  Right-clicking would bring up menu options like, Copy, Paste, etc. (depending on the web browser you're using), but that's not what you want to be doing.  Left-click so that your cursor is positioned to the right of you video...then "Backspace".  I hope this helps.

Thanks for your help, but I cannot left click to the right of the video. I will have to contact my College Distance Ed director for advice.

It sounds like you know how to edit, so it makes me wonder if you can do any editing of the text in the assignment (try typing an extra letter not near the video)? If not, then you may have to seek someone to edit it for you. This could be the case if, for example, instructional designers create the information and faculty are not allowed to change any content.

If you can edit the document, then you may be able to place your cursor in front of the embedded video and then press the delete key. Another possibility is putting the cursor before the video, holding down the shift key while you press the right arrow key (this should highlight the video), and then pressing either delete or backspace.

I can edit the assignment, but none of your suggestions work. I was able to delete the entire assignment, but just not that one video (there are 3 others in the assignment).

If you need to get the assignment back to play some more, you can add /undelete to the end of your main course URL. Example:  /courses/12345/undelete

Do you feel comfortable using the HTML editor? It gives you ultimate control over what you can and cannot do.

This is a long shot, but what browser are you using? Have you tried editing the page with a different browser? Chrome, Firefox, and Safari play the nicest, but there have even been issues with people using older versions of those browsers.

What you're describing is definitely not the expected behavior, so you may need to end up contacting your Canvas support as you mentioned earlier.

Thanks to everyone for the help. I changed to HTML, figured out the link to that video, and deleted it. It is now working. THANKS.
