[ARCHIVED] How do I structure a long-time course where students come and go at different times?

We are using Canvas for online learning. Students have 60 days to complete the course, but new students start as they sign up. I would like for each student to have their own to-do list so they can track their progress through the course. But it would be dated within their time-frame. Or I would even like the to-do list to not be tied to dates ... just order. Is this possible? Thanks!
