How do I initially publish my class?

You'll find the instructions in https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13030-how-do-i-publish-a-course (The information in the blue box at the top of the lesson explains limitations and exceptions.)
Be aware that once the course is published, enrolled users will receive notifications of any changes in course content in accordance with how they've set their own personal notification preferences, so it's good practice to have the course as built out as possible, with as many students enrolled as feasible, before publishing it.
