Simply, how do I upload a syllabus? Is the syllabus defined differently in Canvas? I am expecting to upload the traditional multi-page document that includes a course description, textbook, objectives, assignments, points for assignments, and schedule of activities.

Hi, Douglas,

Yes, you can upload a PDF with syllabus information as shown in How do I edit the Syllabus in a course? 

Canvas helps you create a syllabus for your assignments, so you don't have to do that manually. As long as you have all your assignments in the course, they'll also display in the syllabus. The entire overview of how the syllabus works can be found in How do I use the Syllabus as an instructor?

This would be a simple file upload.  Once you have it uploaded to Canvas then you can decide where it "lives".
