[ARCHIVED] Imported incorrect and currently running course

I accidentally imported a currently running Fall course into an empty shell for the Spring semester and now they are linked.  Anything I do in the Spring course affects the current course.  I saw how to reset course content, but will that work in this case without me losing content from the current Fall course?

I'm not sure what you mean about them being linked.  I understand that you said changing one is changing the other, but I don't know of any Canvas functionality that would do that other than BluePrint which it doesn't sound like is the case.  The only other way I can think of to explain what you are seeing is if you use embedded content from like OneDrive or Google drive.  In that case if you edited something it would affect both courses since it's embedded from the source.  But, deleting it from one course would not affect the other.  

I don't want to steer you wrong, but I don't see any way reseting the spring course will affect the fall course.

However I would like to caution you with resetting your course as that means EVERYTHING will disappear. But if you are fine with that then feel free to press that red button.

I "copied" the Fall course into the empty shell for the Spring course.  When I try to "edit" the Spring course it shows the Fall course in the course id box in the upper left. It is not just a copy, it is the same course.  I actually did try to alter the Spring course and it changed the currently underway Fall course too, since what's in the Spring course is everything from the current Fall course.  After trying to delete the posts in the new Spring course, I lost the same posts in the currently running course. 

It took some real scrambling to restore the Fall course to the way it is supposed to be.  Now I'm afraid to do anything else to the Spring course because I would lose the materials in the Fall course.  The lesson here is that one should never copy a currently running course into an empty shell.  I didn't know that at the time--I thought I could just change dates and be done!

So clearly I somehow need to remove or reset the Spring course to return it to an empty shell so I can start over again.
