[ARCHIVED] Inbox and obervers

Does anyone know how to add observers to the inbox?  I want to be able to message observers in my course and I only have access to students and teachers.  Is there a setting on the admin panel that allows this?

The default setting for Observers and the Conversations tool is "disabled":

I have never enable this functionality in the permissions, but you may try in beta or test to see what it actually does.

Yes, I saw that, but I wasn't sure which once to turn on to enable the group titled, "observers"

I turned both of those settings on in Beta and I still can not see "observers" as a group to send a message to like I can "students" and "teachers".  Any other ideas?

I actually just discovered the issue.  It had nothing to do with the settings.  The teacher that couldn't see the "observers" also had student rights in the class along with teacher rights.  Once I removed that role we were able to see "observers".
