[ARCHIVED] Instructor needs to grade discussions for an on-campus class

I am using canvas for an on-campus class.  I treat assignments and class discussion grades differently because they are weighted differently for the final grade. I give students grades on each discussion based on class participation.  Unfortunately, Canvas does not seem to accept a grade unless the student submits something.  So on the home page i keep being told that I have discussions to grade.  I have the exact same problem because of the mandatory test student in each class.

MY request for an improvement is that if I professor gives a grade, count it, even if there is no student submittal.  I tried the chat help and they suggested I enter such request here.

Thanks for this idea.  Unfortunately, this isn't the exact space to post your Feature Idea request here in the Community.  But, I can point you to where you need to go.  From any page here in the Community, click on the PRODUCT menu at the top of the page, and then click on IDEA CONVERSATIONS.  You'll be taken to a page where you'll find a red "Suggest an idea" button.  This will allow you to create a new Feature Idea (or it may find one that already exists based on how you title your request).  I hope this will help a bit.  Sing out if you have any other questions about this...thanks!  Take care, stay safe, and be well.
