How do I manually add a grading column?

To add a column to the gradebook you'll need to add an Assignment under the Assignment tab.  How do I create an assignment? Set the Submission type to No Submission or On Paper to simply have it be a column in the gradebook.  My practice for doing this is to use what I call the "easy button" when creating assignments.  Clicking the Plus :smileyplus: icon to the right of an Assignment Group brings up this very simple interface which works well for what you are trying to do.
