Canvas and Mastery are experiencing issues due to an ongoing AWS incident. Follow the status at AWS Health Dashboard and Instructure Status Page
Hello all!
Quick question. We are planning on using Mastery Paths for our online orientation module for all of our online classes. However, when we started trying to implement it, we found that the mastery path does not copy over correctly. When we copy the Mastery Path, the functionality breaks and it turns into a regular module - which is difficult. I've already got a Support Ticket in (#02987153) but the engineers have it on hold as they are seeking more information/feedback about the issue.
So, Canvas Community peeps, have any of you experienced a similar issue? Have you tried copying Mastery Paths into other courses with success? Can you add your voice of feedback to this issue if you've experienced it?
Thoughts?
@akinsey ,
I may be having a similar issue to what you are experiencing. When I created our blueprint course, I created two mastery path assignments. When I created associated courses and linked them to the blueprint course, the mastery path feature did not carry over, and I had to go into each associated course to add the two mastery path assignments.
I submitted a ticket to Canvas in late March. I heard back from Canvas support and was told that "conditional items do not sync via Blueprint if a quiz or discussion is used as the source for learning paths. If a standard assignment is used the conditional items still sync with Blueprint."
They also added they are currently testing a possible fix.
Not carrying over some of the features in our Blueprint course defeats the purpose of using Blueprint courses so I hope this fix gets rolled out as soon as possible.
Thanks, @brian_t_anders . I was doing a straight course copy and the conditional items did not work either. I'm hoping this gets fixed soon, as we were planning on using it for the summer.
Hi Brian Anders,
We've seen some inconsistencies in how Modules behave with Blueprint courses -- this seems to be, in part, because Modules cannot be locked in Blueprint print courses. You might consider voting for this feature idea -- https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/9548-blueprint-make-modules-lockable -- and adding the use case about Mastery Paths as a comment.
Best,
Linda
Hi all,
I've submitted two feature ideas to hopefully get some traction on this. Feel free to share!

Thanks!
Was this issue addressed in Canvas Production release 04-21-2018? Or is it still not working when copying a course? I haven't tested this but it appears from the 042118 update, associated courses now carry over mastery paths from blueprint courses.
MasteryPath Assignments
Quizzes and graded discussion set as MasteryPath items are updated in associated courses.
Explanation: When a quiz or graded discussion was set as a MasteryPath item in a Blueprint course, the conditional item was not added to the same assignments in associated courses. Canvas code has been updated to update assignments in associated courses as MasteryPath items.
