I'm not sure in which place to post this, so I'm starting with Grade Pass Back.
We are preparing for a grade pass back to our SIS, and we have encountered an issue with one of our pilot courses. The course has graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in the course. All students complete the same assignments, but the graduate students have a different grading scheme than the undergraduate students. Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, how did you overcome this obstacle?
Hi Shandy!
What SIS are you passing grades back to?
Hailee, we are using Banner. We are developing our own grade pass back, but getting the course site to generate the correct letter grade is where we are struggling.
I see. I would recommend posting this in the general community as well! There may be some creative solutions out there for multiple grading schemes in a single course. I am not aware of any workarounds. Thanks!
Hi @sbeck1 ,
Im wondering if you were able to find any creative ways to resolve this. I am currently working with a school (also using Banner) and this same question has come up.
Please let me know what solutions you've found, if any.
Thanks!
Ryan
Ryan, we have asked the faculty to create an additional assignment for the gradebook. This was based off of the concepts in this posting. https://community.canvaslms.com/groups/admins/blog/2016/12/19/override-adjust-the-final-grade Hope this helps!
the only thing I can think of is to separate the grad vs undergrad students into different sections in the course. then, create two assignments, one for each section. you then could enable grading schemes at the assignment level and assign them appropriately to the sections. I know this would work for assignment assignments and discussion assignments, but I don't think it will for quizzes.
That would work for the assignments, but not the overall / total / final score. Is there something in the new gradebook (in Beta) that addresses this?
@sbeck1 ,
We are giving the Canvas Admins area a little bit of love (especially questions that are really, really old) and just want to check in with you. This will also bring this question new attention.
Were you able to find an answer to your question? I am going to go ahead and mark this question as answered because there hasn't been any more activity in a while so I assume that you have the information that you need. If you still have a question about this or if you have information that you would like to share with the community, by all means, please do come back and leave a comment. Also, if this question has been answered by one of the previous replies, please feel free to mark that answer as correct.

@Robbie_Grant I would say 2 years is old in Canvas time, but not really, really old ![]()
I'm also running into this issue and there does not seem to be an answer above. Sections won't work because the grading scheme is applied at the course level. There does not seem to be any options in the new gradebook to resolve this. Any further suggestions would be appreciated!
