I'm using Safari on my Macbook Pro to browse my group assignment page. When I try to scroll down, it keeps jumping to the top of the page every a few seconds. It happens on all the assignment pages with 'Submit Assignment' buttons on the top, so I guess that's the root of the problem. Does anybody have similar experience or know how to resolve it? Thanks!

I have submitted a Support Ticket. They replied and said there is an open ticket from someone else that they will add me to.
Hi @s3762394 Thank You for your question.
This does sound frustrating.
I did a bit of research for this question and although you are using Safari I'm wondering if it's an out of date version.
Here's a guide for the latest browsers that work best with Canvas:
https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10720-which-browsers-does-canvas-support
Sing out if this doesn't work.
I have the exact same problem, the referenced article says the browser is supported. I am using the most current version of Safari, 13.0.2, on an iMac. On any assignment page after a brief time it will jump to the top of the page. It's very frustrating when trying to submit assignments. It doesn't happen in other browsers I've tried or on my iPad pro when using Safari. Only in Safari running on my iMac. Also, I don't think it was happening when I started the course in September. Although it could just be that I didn't notice it.
This has been driving me crazy for a week and a half or two as well.
13.0.2 as well on a MacBook Pro
I am a professor and I am having the same issue from the teacher side of assignment pages. I am running the same version of Safari as listed above.
milandpalmer, mcgoveja, eolsen2and @s3762394 it looks like a few of you are experiencing the same challenge.
While I try to find out more would you please put in a Support Ticket to Canvas and see if they can help you?
How do I get help with Canvas as a student?
How do I get help with Canvas as an instructor?
I hope you find an answer through this avenue.
Sorry I couldn't have been more help.
I am having the same issue. It looks really awesome when I am trying to review the assignment in class and as I am scrolling down the instructions the page is jumping back to the top. Canvas, please fix this glitch!
Hello to all of you who have been experiencing the 'jumping' issue in Canvas. Miland, James, Eric Zhengfei and @cm_smith
I'm just checking in to see if you have submitted a Support Ticket with Canvas Support.
If they see these coming in with similar issues it will help them to see the pattern and hopefully find a fix quicker.
In the meantime may I suggest that you double check that your browsers are well supported and up to date.
Check your device compatibility: What are the basic computer specifications for Canvas?
Check your browser compatibility: Which browsers does Canvas support?
Note that *Internet Explorer 11 is not a supported browser.*
I hope this is resolved for you all soon.
I have submitted a Support Ticket. They replied and said there is an open ticket from someone else that they will add me to.
Bobby,
I tried to follow the rules you listed to submit a ticket but for my Canvas, it only gives me the option to "Live Chat", no link to submit a ticket exists. I too am having this same issue. I am on a MacBook Pro running all the latest updates. Catalina 10.15. Thank you!
-Stephen
Hi @gaytsd2 , do have 'Report a Problem' as an option in your Help menu?
As for Catalina, I've heard of people experiencing challenges with that. I will ask around for some extra info on that.
I also submitted a ticket for this issue. This has been impacting me for at least a month, maybe more.
Safari 13.0.2
MacOS Catalina.
I have this same problem. Safari Version 13.0.2 (15608.2.30.1.1), Mac Catalina Version 10.15
I have the same problem. Mac Catalina 10.15 and Safari 13.0.2 (15608.2.30.1.1). I've also opened a ticket with support (Case # 04901435)
It seems to happen on Assignments that have a Rubric. If I go to our Test instance and remove the Rubric, the page does not scroll back to the top. I'm wondering if there is some background ajax or js in the Rubric that is triggering Safari to reload the page and jump to the top.
Hi @cronek , dmccoy, ryan.bliss, and @gaytsd2 I've spoken to a fellow Catalina user who is not experiencing this challenge. However she is using Chrome not Safari. Perhaps that may be a fix for you?
Bobby, Thank you for sharing this. I too am able to use Chrome as a “work around” but all my other school activities and functions are set up in the safari browser(which I prefer). I will continue to get by with Chrome until a fix is found for Safari. Thanks again.
Best regards,
Stephen
I meant to post my comment as a reply. But from what I have found the issue in other cases is a Mac OS feature "Hot Corner" has been turned on. You can follow the steps below to turn that feature off and see if it resolves your issue.
Thank you for the reply,
However I actively use my Hot Corners (quite a bit). I did try to turn them off and see but that did not solve the issue for me. Thanks again!
-Setphen
Mine were not ever turned on and I am still having the problem.
I had a student submit a ticket regarding this as well. After some research I cam across this thread in Apple Discussions. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2430039
Towards the bottom the issue is resolved. The problem seems to have been a mouse setting. Hot Corners was turned on in System Preferences. Turning that feature off resolved the issue. I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Dan Odom
I am on Mac OS Catalina, running Safari 13.0.2 and I cannot make a rubric at the bottom of an assignment without it jumping to the top every second. The Hot Corners fix did nothing. This is been over a month of a known issue for a "supported" browser. It needs to be fixed as major functions are basically unusable. Many of us have major workflows integrated into our choice of browser, so suggesting going to Chrome is not a reasonable workaround. I will submit a ticket.
The fix you suggest is about the entire browser window jumping to the top of the screen - note they say that they can recover by clicking on the small remaining visible portion. That has nothing to do with our Canvas page scrolling to the top of the page as the window itself stays stationary. So please edit your fix to indicate that it is not related to this issue, and is a misleading route wasting time.
We appreciate the additional information on this thread, but the answer is still the same. Please use the 'report a problem' link in the 'help' menu of Canvas, or follow up with your local admin on how to submit a support ticket if that link is not available.
Until support/product have a solution the best option is to use another supported browser.
When I started the course I had no problems. Half way thru the pages keep scrolling to the top!
I view from my android phone and it's fine but I cant complete this class using my phone!!
