[ARCHIVED] New Analytics Course Activty report exceeds maximum number of rows

When I try to run the Course Activity Report (New Analytics> Reports > Course Activity) I get a pop with the message:

Warning: Size Exceeded Maximum Number of Rows

This report contains 77303 rows, which exceeds the maximum supported number. Filtering is not available for this report request. You may still download the unfiltered, 27 day report. An unfiltered, 27 day report is available for download.

I run the report and a csv report file is generated but it has no data, just the header:

"<h2>Incomplete response received from application</h2>"

Is this a common problem for larger enrolments? Is there a workaround or plans to fix it?
