[ARCHIVED] Posting to a discussion

I have watched the tutorial on posting to an assigned discussion, but when I go to my course, there is not a column showing discussion and other items.  Am I in the wrong area?  Isn't Canvas integrated into the EGCC student portal?  

I don't want to bother my instructor, unless she has another method of posting discussions.

Thanks for posting your question.  It's a little difficult to diagnose the issue here in the Community because we don't have access to your school's Canvas environment or the course you are taking.  However, it could be that your instructor has hidden the "Discussion" course navigation button in your course.  If this is the case, your instructor may want you and your classmates to access discussion topics via the "Modules" course navigation button.  But, without being able to see this first-hand, this is simply a guess on my end.  You said that you don't want to bother your instructor, but I would argue that this is a perfect example of why you should contact your instructor.  He/She may be able to give you further direction on what you should be doing or where to be clicking on things in your course.  You can contact your instructor by visiting this Guide: How do I get help with Canvas as a student?.
