Hi, I understand how to use question pools in quizzes, but I also want to implement a question pool for an assignment (e.g., a set of topics that students would write an essay on, but which get selected randomly from a pool). I need assignment-specific features for this task (mainly, the use of rubrics for grading) which are not available in quizzes.

Hello there, @ivan_fernandezp ...

Sorry to see that your question has been sitting out here since the end of May 2020 without a response.  Unfortunately, question pools from Quizzes do not have any connection to Assignments.  So, if you intend on using Assignments, you will have to find another way to have your students randomly be assigned a topic.

In your last sentence of your question, you seemed to imply that rubrics are not available for Quizzes.  Actually, this is not true.  You can attach a rubric to a Quiz in your course...but the rubric is not used for grading...as the question points from the quiz are used for grading.  Here's a Guide for you to look through: How do I add a rubric to a quiz?.
