[ARCHIVED] Reading Accessibility Tool

Does anyone know of a tool that can be added in Canvas that is similar to the reading accessibility tool "Read & Write" that is a Google Chrome add-on?  We have a handful of students who use this tool for support with reading but we are finding it does not work very well within Canvas.

Try an add on for Google docs. My work study created this video and the "voice Typing" add-on is at 1:31 into the video: Studio

I've also seen great things happen in Canvas with the Chrome extension 'speak it' .

Microsoft Immersive Reader

This feature is part of a joint Microsoft-Canvas Immersive Reader announcement and can currently only be viewed in the beta environment. More information about this feature availability in the production environment will be announced in the 2019-11-16 Canvas release notes.

Summary

The Microsoft Immersive Reader is being offered in Canvas as a trial feature that can be enabled by a Canvas admin as a feature option in Account Settings. By default, this option is turned off for all accounts.

Hi Julie,

No, I do not see where to turn it on in Beta either. I think after the 23rd, it'll be available in Beta since it is mentioned in the Oct 23 Deploy notes.

ReadSpeaker TextAid is an individual assistive technology tool that can support all of Canvas from discussions, pages, and files.  It can also read assessments and can work with LDB.   Plus it allows you to add your own documents into your personal library.  And ReadSpeaker for Canvas is intended to provide a campus-wide license.  Let me know if you have any questions.
