Is there a way to have two separate due dates for (1) initial responses and (2) student replies?

I would like my students to be able to post their initial responses early in the week and then have the classmate replies due later in the week so that they have time to read over every response and give a well written and thought out classmate reply. Right now, I can only set one due date for both the initial response and classmate replies.

I do not think there is a way in Canvas to post 2 due dates. This is a problem for discussion forums!

There are a number of suggestions listed under the heading "Referenced Ideas".  One of the last items in that list is:
