I know I can restrict access by date to file that has been uploaded into Canvas.

But is there a way to restrict access by date to a file linked with external tool Office 365?

I cannot find a way.

@parmana Thank you for reaching out to your community for support. If you are using the external tool in an assignment, you can create lock dates that will restrict access to the file during a specific period of time. If you are uploading the file using a link in modules or on a page, for example, I recommend seeing what features are available in Office365 for restricting access during specific dates. Since Office365 is not managed by Canvas, our expertise is not on their specific features. Here is a link for Microsoft support that may be helpful with setting expiration dates to files

Thank you for your response.

The Office 365 LTI sets the Sharing properties when the link is created.  I am assuming I can go back and modify those settings and set an expiration date, as explained in the video you linked.

But ... I was also hoping for a "release" or "open" date option, like we have for Files - that is what I really need. 

I need something like the "Schedule Student Availabilty" option we have for uploaded Canvas files when we click to publish or unpublish.

The documents are assignment answer sheets that I don't want students to have access to before their due dates.

You could put the file link within a dedicated module, and set the module to unlock whenever you wanted.
