I would like to know what ideas are out there to teach "how to create a resume" in an online-only course for students who are majoring in trades, such as HVAC, automotive, welding, etc. at a community college and may have limited IT skills. I have a good PowerPoint (attached) from our campus Career Development Office, but I want to be able to provide the following:
- background on functional vs. chronological resumes
- using job description/posting terms in their resume to get more hits
- building a resume section-by-section in MS Word, etc.
I plan to also post this in the discussion area, as well.
@mkeller44 , we have changed the format of this question to a discussion, and it's not necessary to repost it. If you'd like to broaden its exposure, please use the Share button at the upper right of the page to share it with any other group of which you're a member. Those group members will see the discussion and their responses will appear right here, which will avoid the possibility of parallel and possibly duplicative comment streams forming.
Great guidance on how to create a resume and list your professional skills . We should always go with chronological resumes.
