I would like to make up a way for students to self grade themselves and receive the points they choose. Is there a way to do this?
ex. question
Please mark the time range you completed the one mile run.
a) <7:30 minutes (male) OR <9:00 minutes (female)
b) 7:31-10:00 minutes (male) OR 9:01-11:30 minutes (female)
c) 10:01-12:30 minutes (male) OR 11:31-14:00 minutes (female)
d) >12:31 (male) OR >14:00 (female)
I would like to make it so when they choose a) they receive 4 points; b) they receive 3 points; c) they receive 2 points; d) they receive 1 point.
Is this possible?

To have students self-grade in Canvas, you have to create a Multiple-Choice Quiz whose Options are set to "Vary points by answer." Then, how I do it is, I make the options for the multiple-choice quiz percentage grades: Students answer, "I earned a(n) ..." and can choose ___A (95+%), A- (92%), ____B+ (89%), etc. Next to the choice, vary the points to 100 points, 92 points, 89 points, etc., so that--effectively--students complete quizzes that are set so that the choice they choose is also a value that is used to grade the quiz/students and appear in Grades. I have that quiz the only assignment that has points. Therefore the quiz, of 100 points, also counts toward 100% of the final grade calculation.
