[ARCHIVED] Students Storage Space filling up on Canvas

I use the free Canvas option to teach my classes. I have started running into issues where students can't upload their projects, and after advising them to make sure the file size is not too big, some are still running into this issue. They say they are given the message that their "Data allotment" is full, or something along those lines. They said that all the classes they've ever taken on Canvas are still available, and these are eating up space. What solutions might there be?

Assuming that your course assignments in Canvas are set up correctly, when your students attach files to those assignments to be submitted to you, they should not count against the student's Files quota.  This is documented in the following Guide: How do I view my user files as a student? - Canvas Community.  The "View User Files" section confirms this, and the "View My Files" section shows where the "Submissions" folder is where those file submissions should be automatically stored when a student submits an assignment to you in your course.  It would be interesting to know if any of those files are being stored outside of the "Submissions" folder...as that's the only place I could think of where the quota would count against a student's account.
